ROCK SPRINGS – Brad Fitch will bring his tribute show, A John Denver Christmas, to the Broadway Theater on Saturday, December 21 at 7:00 p.m. The show is presented by the Rock Springs Kiwanis Club and donations will be accepted for admission.
Fitch was able to see Denver in concert multiple times before his death. He’s read as much as he can about Denver and looked at old video of his concerts. Fitch will play Saturday’s show as a soloist, something he said sticks out in his mind about a Denver concert years ago.
“What I remember most of all was that even though there were thousands of people there, he was able to create a very intimate atmosphere,” Fitch said.
“At the John Denver concerts I attended, he had a full band. But in the middle, he would give the band a break and play by himself. That was always the most enjoyable to me.”
Fitch has recorded 15 albums featuring his original music which reflects what he loves about nature and the western lifestyle. In 2001, he performed for the President of the United States during his visit to Colorado. He also performed during the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver and has opened for an impressive array of folk and western artists. Fitch was awarded the All-Around Cowboy Entertainer at the Aspen Lodge Cowboy Poetry Gathering.
For more than 10 years, Fitch has performed John Denver tribute concerts to benefit the Rocky Mountain Nature Association, the Estes Park Lions Club charities, the City of Fort Collins, The Cancer Center of Arizona and the Estes Park Cultural Arts Council. These concerts, which feature John Denver’s songs, have set attendance records at their venues. Fitch has also performed at the annual John Denver memorial concerts in Aspen, Colorado several times.
