JACKSON – Kyle Lash is the new South Jackson Game Warden for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Wyoming game wardens are responsible for wildlife law enforcement, wildlife damage and prevention, data collection, and wildlife management duties. Lash replaces former South Jackson Game Warden, Jerry Longobardi, who retired after 29 years of service. Lash comes to Jackson after serving as Game Warden in Kaycee for the past two years.

Lash was born and raised in Thermopolis, Wyoming. He attended the University of Wyoming and graduated with a degree in Wildlife Biology and Management in 2009. Lash returns to Jackson after beginning his Game and Fish tenure in Jackson as a habitat biologist aid following college. Later in 2009, Lash attended the 12-week Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy where he became certified as a Wyoming peace officer. In his relatively short Game and Fish career, he has served as a game warden in Cody, Green River, Cheyenne and Kaycee.

In 2012, while at Kaycee, Lash was honored with the Game and Fish Department’s prestigious Valor Award for a heroic rescue of an angler who nearly succumbed to hypothermia. Lash was the first to discover the man who had become stranded in the rugged Powder River canyon for three cold nights without food or shelter.

Lash is happy to be returning to the Jackson community. “I have fond memories from my time working in Jackson and feel fortunate to be back,” says Lash. “Jackson Hole is an incredible place and I look forward to serving the people and the amazing fish and wildlife resource this area has become so well-known for.”
