SWEETWATER COUNTY – Lady Tigers tennis battled to weekend wins over both Cody and Powell while the Tigers split. Both the Wolves and Lady Wolves fell to Cody and Powell this past weekend.
On the girl’s side, the Lady Tigers were able to beat Cody 3-2. In the No. 2 singles match, Zoe Baldwin got things started as she was able to roll with a straight sets win, 6-1 and 6-4.
The No. 2 and No.3 doubles team secured the win for Rock Springs. Casey Swedlund and Gretchen Baldwin won a tight battle, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. The No. 3 team of Maggie Justinak and Alyssa Vigil lost the first set but responded winning the next two, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The Lady Tigers followed the Cody win as the rolled over Powell with a 4-1 win.
On the boy’s side, the Tigers finished the weekend with a split. After losing to Cody on Friday, 3-2, the Tigers responded taking a 3-2 win over Powell on Saturday. The two Friday wins against Cody were from the Tiger singles players of Tony Lew and Kelby Kramer.
Green River
For the Wolves and Lady Wolves, it was not the weekend they hoped for. The Lady Wolves fell in a close one against Powell on Friday, 3-2. Single’s players Anna Ujvary and Isabel Leininger provided the two wins for Green River. On Saturday, it was all Cody as they won all five contests.
The Wolves also dropped both contests over the weekend. On Friday, Powell was able to get the close 3-2 win. On Saturday, Cody took the win with four wins to one for the Wolves.
The no. 1 Wolves doubles team of Ian Ebert and McCaden Mikesell rebounded from a 6-4 loss to the Powell team in the first set to take the next two, 7-5 and 6-3. The other Green River win on Friday came from the no. 3 doubles team of Brandon Lee and Brendan Bloomquist. They won in straight sets, 6-0 and 7-5.
Against Cody on Saturday, the only Wolves win came from the no. 1 singles match as Jacob Lock won in straight sets, 7-6 and 6-0.
