ROCK SPRINGS – The Rock Springs Lady Tigers will get a look at the 4A East-leading Laramie on Tuesday after a weekend of tournament play in Casper.
The Lady Tigers (3-16) head to Laramie with a little momentum as they beat Hulett last time out. While Cheyenne East has received most of the attention this season, Laramie is quietly leading the 4A East standings with a conference record of 4-0. It will again give the ladies of Rock Springs a chance to see where they are against the best on the other side of the state as they lost to East over the weekend.
In Casper, the growth of the Rock Springs squad could be seen. Although the ladies lost all three matches on Friday, they won several games against some top teams in the state.
The Lady Tigers opened with the third-ranked team from 3A Douglas. The ladies rallied to take the first set against the 3A powerhouse, 25-23. Douglas responded to take the second set and was able to beat Rock Springs in the third and deciding set, 15-7.
The ladies had an opportunity to see where the stacked up against the top-ranked team in the state as they faced Cheyenne East. The ladies gained valuable experience as East won in straight sets.
The final match on Friday came against Mountain View. The ladies again looked good early as they took the first set by nine points, 25-16. Mountain View responded with a 25-20 win in set two and edged out the Lady Tigers in the final set, 15-10.
On Saturday, Rock Springs opened play in the silver bracket. The ladies were competitive against another 4A East squad Cheyenne Central but lost in straight sets. Against Hulett, the Lady Tigers were able to put it together as they won the match, 25-12 and 25-22.
On Friday, the ladies continue the long road trip as they return to conference play. The ladies will face Jackson who are 0-3 in the conference and 8-10 overall.
