EVANSTON – One year after being in the top two in the conference, the Green River Lady Wolves will be battling for a place at state this weekend in Evanston.
The Lady Wolves enter as the fourth seed with an overall record of 13-15. In conference play, the ladies finished 4-6. Up first is the Lady Broncs of Jackson. They enter as the fifth seed with a 10-16 record overall.
Green River has both wins over Jackson in regular-season play. On Sept. 9, the Lady Wolves won three sets to one, 25-18, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-20. This past weekend, Green River swept the ladies of Jackson, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-17.
The end of the season has been a struggle for the ladies After beating Rock Springs and Lyman, Green River finished the season 1-3 with the win coming over Jackson. During this stretch, Green River came up short in two five-set matches against Natrona and Evanston in the final match of the regular season. Green River was up two sets to one against Evanston but lost the last two sets to the fall in the final match of the regular season.
