GREEN RIVER – The ladies of Green River continued to add to the state team and the trophy case as they brought home the Rawlins Pentathlon team title.
The Green River Lady Wolves opened the season with a strong dual win over Jackson and continued to look that way a few days later in Rawlins. Green River was all over the leaderboard in all six events of the meet. In the end, the team cruised to a win with 1,062.5 points. Rock Springs was second with 894 followed by Douglas with 488.5.
Avery Otto continued to be one of the leaders for the ladies. In the pentathlon, which is a combination of the times of all five swimming events, Otto finished second. Of the top ten spots in the pentathlon, five were held by Lady Wolves.
Ashley Jensen finished fourth, Alexis King was right behind in fifth followed by Sydni Sanders in sixth. Rounding out the GRHS top ten’s was Cherylann Mortiz who finished in ninth.
Sanders, Otto, Jensen and King all qualified for state events against Jackson. This list got a bit bigger in Rawlins. King and Mortiz qualified in the 100 fly. Otto, Jensen and Sanders all added the 100 back while King, Jensen and Sanders added the 50 free. Â Otto, Jensen and Sanders also added the 100 free with Otto qualifying in the 100 breaststroke as well.
Green River divers also made a splash at Rawlins with two in the top five. Brianna Rath finished fourth with 247.70 points followed by teammate Victoria Allen with 235.90.
