DOUGLAS – Several local 4-H kids are making a strong showing at the Wyoming State Fair in Douglas.
Sophie Spicer of Rock Springs stole the show in the Terrier group. Spicer and her dog Beau took overall grand champion in the Terrier group in conformation. It was also passed along to SweetwaterNOW the pair finished in second in the agility level one group with a score of 85.
Kyra Schwartz of Rock Springs has been a busy girl in Douglas. She also took home an overall grand champion for any other pure breed not listed. It is better known as the miscellaneous group.
Both also competed for the chance of the best in show title. Schwartz and her dog Artemis De Guardian Bull – who is a Perro De Presa Canario – ended up winning best in show this year.
Stephanie Loweseth Schwartz-Pollok said from her understanding, this hasn’t been done in Sweetwater County for over a decade.
Schwartz was not done yet. Kyra also took her dog Princess Fawn Schwartz – who is a Dougue De Bordeaux – and won overall reserve grand champion in the working group.
Catherine Johnson of Rock Springs has also left her mark in Douglas. She won two grand champion ribbons in the categories of Hunt Seat Equitation and Hunter Under Saddle.
