WASHINGTON D.C. – In this week’s Cattle Call, U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis addresses changes in the House including the election of Rep. Paul Ryan as the new speaker.
“This week’s election of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as Speaker begins a fresh start for the House of Representatives. I have seen the problems in recent years that a ‘command and control’ and ‘reward and punishment’ style of leadership breeds.
I believe returning to regular order, including more open debate and the opportunity to amend legislation, will give rank and file House members a chance to more effectively represent their constituents.
I look forward to working with Speaker Ryan to restore power to individual members and committees and promote a positive conservative agenda advancing free enterprise, limited government, and a meaningful reduction of our skyrocketing national debt.
Please feel free to contact me with your thoughts on what a positive conservative agenda looks like to you.”
