Make sure local families have a turkey for the holidays

SWEETWATER COUNTY – Some of the most memorable family moments revolve around the holidays and especially during family dinner. The local food banks are asking for the public helps to make sure every family has this opportunity,

Numbers at the food banks in Green River and Rock Springs start increasing in September and do not stop until around February. Most of the seasonal work comes to an end leaving providers without an income. Children head back to school and the back to school costs can be very hard on a low income family.

Not to mention, heating bills are on the rise during this time and the holidays add that much more stress on these families.

The local food banks are asking those who can help feed these folks during the hard months come forward by bringing in a turkey or making a donation to the food banks.

The food banks reported last year, every family in need of the food bank’s services received a turkey thanks to the generosity of the local residents. That’s 1,074 families who received a turkey in November and December.

You can write in your check memo turkeys and which city you would like the donation to go to. Any amount is appreciated.
