GREEN RIVER — Milena Andrea Melo and Mark Phillip Luzmoor, together with their parents David and Mireya Melo and Phillip and Kathy Luzmoor, are happy to announce the exchange of wedding vows to take place on June 24, 2017, on the beach in South Padre Island, TX.
Milena is a graduate of Veterans Memorial High School (2006) in Mission TX, University of Texas- Pan American with a BS in Biology (2009) and a MA in Interdisciplinary Studies (2011), and the University of Texas at San Antonio with a PhD in Anthropology (2017). Milena’s medical anthropology dissertation is titled “Enacting Life: Dialysis Among Undocumented Mexican Immigrants in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands.”
Milena has been offered an Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Latino Studies at the School for Advanced Research Santa Fe, NM to begin in Sept. 2017. She will follow as tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Mississippi State College in Starkville, Mississippi beginning August 2018.
Mark is a graduate of Green River High School (2005), Western Wyoming Community College (2007), The University of Wyoming with a BA in History (2009) and the University of Texas-San Antonio, MA Archeology (2013).
He is currently a Professional Archeologist for Raba Kistner, Inc. in San Antonio, Texas. Mark and Milena met in 2012 through mutual UTSA graduate school friends.
The two will make their next home in Santa Fe, along with their three fur babies, Spunky, Chip, and Chloe.
