GREEN RIVER — At 5:30 tonight Sweetwater County School District #2 will be hosting a re-dedication ceremony for Monroe Intermediate School.
Superintendent Donna Little-Kaumo said that the Monroe Intermediate School is ready for the future after the pool area was remodeled.
Little-Kaumo said that the newly built Aquatics Center allowed the district to reconfigure Monroe Intermediate School into 24 classrooms from the previous 17.
A Science Technology Education and Math (STEM) laboratory have been added to the floorplan.
The office has been relocated to the front door, and a double security doors are now installed. Bringing the school in line with best security practices.
The remodeling has changed the school into a collaborative learning space. Under the new model each of the two grade levels will have two ‘neighborhoods’ that serve as communal space to be reconfigured for the task at hand.
The collegial work atmosphere extends to the teacher’s lounge areas that are configured to allow multiple teachers to conference on lesson plans.
Little-Kaumo said that the school’s wider corridors enable students to pass each other easily and, as an added benefit, the width helps to keep the noise level down.
