ROCK SPRINGS — A Mountain View student finished second in a national aviation art contest according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
Lottie Schmutz placed second in the intermediate category at the national level of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale Young Artist Contest. The category was open to children aged 10-13. The national contest is managed by the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) and the National Aeronautic Association (NAA).
Children and teens were challenged to illustrate aviation’s role in regency response and community safety with the theme “Fly to Save Lives.” Schmutz’s work joins eight other finalists from three categories judged at the national level to be sent to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland to compete against artists from around the world.
