Something for Everyone

It has been stated quite clearly several times while I have been here, by several different people of different ranks, that the Marine Corps is not for everyone. The Marine Corps is actually very choosey when it comes to who they will allow to become a Marine.

About 10-12 people are turned away for every one that is accepted by a Marine recruiter as someone that is eligible to tryout for the Marine Corps.

At each Marine Corps base, we have talked with and been around Marines that are air traffic controllers, pilots, journalists/media relations individuals, drill sergeants, recruiters, musicians and many others. All of these individuals are Marines, and all of them are told, encouraged and expected to become as good as they can at what they dedicate themselves to. Check out what the Marine Corps Party Band is capable of in the video below.

Every Marine is a rifleman. This means every Marine is trained on how to shoot and fight along with his/her other specializations. This practice and belief sets the Marine Corps apart from the other military branches.

So while the Marine Corps may not be for everyone, there is something for everyone that has what it takes to earn the title Marine.
