ROCK SPRINGS — Today’s requirement of social distancing for the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic can mean missing out on celebrating some milestones in life, such as 90th birthdays.
However, the residents on the 400 block of Q Street in Rock Springs were determined not to let one of their neighbor’s birthday go uncelebrated.
When Emilia Henderson turned 90 on Friday, April 3, 2020, her neighbors gathered in their yards to sing Happy Birthday. They has also made homemade banners and gave her some balloons.
The Rock Springs Police Department even got in on the fun by sending two officers to help in celebrating Henderson’s special day.
Despite their excitement, family and friends managed to keep it a surprise. Henderson is touched by the thoughtfulness her neighbors and the local police showed her. This is a day she won’t forget.
“Hopefully, we will all be here in 10 years and then we can have a real party,” Henderson said.
