Rock Springs Parks and Rec Board opening

The Rock Springs Parks and Recreation Board is looking for a local high school freshman or sophomore to fill the vacant youth member spot. The term is three years, so a high school freshman or sophomore is preferred.

Interested persons should send a letter of interest to Mayor Demshar at 212 D St Rock Springs, WY or email your letter to webmaster@rswy.net. The letter should include a short biography, past and current involvement in any clubs, sports or organizations and why they feel they would be a good fit for the advisory board. The deadline for the letters is August 29th.

The Board meets once a month on second Thursday of the month.

White Mountain Golf Course

At the most recent Rock Springs Parks and Recreation Board meeting, board member Lynne Demshar had some thoughts about the White Mountain Golf Course. She recently went on a golfing adventure and noticed at the course she was at, there were two garbage cans at each hole. One for trash and one for recyclable materials.

Demshar said she would like staff to look at possibly adding this to the White Mountain Golf Course.

Demshar also spoke about the pull carts at the course and addressed the bad condition they are in. JJ Syvrud, who was filling in for Director Dave Lansang, said he would not be surprised if new golf pro Aaron Allred already had the pull carts on his to do list.

Board member thanks staff

Park and Rec Board member Stevi Madsen personally thanked the department staff and Syvrud for their help with a late request from the All-Star Baseball team. Madsen said the All-Star team wanted to have a little camp-out on the baseball fields after the tournament. She explained she contacted park staff and Syvrud with the idea of the sleep over. Through staffs hard work with the late request, the All-Stars were able to spend the night on the field.

Madsen said staff really went all out to “make a memory” for the team
