CHEYENNE — On January 8, 2021, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 189 on Interstate 90 east of Sundance, Wyoming. At 10:58 pm, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of a one-vehicle rollover.
A 2008 Ford F-250 was headed west on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the ice-covered roadway. The vehicle exited the road and entered the median, where it overturned.
The driver of the Ford has been identified as 27-year-old Gillette, Wyoming resident Keelie A. Garvin. Garvin was wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash. The passenger has been identified as 23-year-old Gillette, Wyoming resident Corban J. Vassar. Vassar was wearing her seatbelt and transported to the Crook County Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
Speeding too fast for road conditions is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
This is the 4th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 1 in 2020, 3 in 2019, and 1 in 2018 to date.
