Parents Asked to Complete Bus Route Forms in SCSD No. 1

ROCK SPRINGS — Bus routes for Rock Springs schools will look different than they have in previous years, and Sweetwater County School District No. 1 is asking parents to complete a form on the district website to help simplify the routes.

Superintendent Kelly McGovern said the biggest challenge next year will be busing students in the morning prior to school. The new school start times limit transportation options due to school starting at 8:10 a.m. for K-6 and 8 a.m. for 7-12 grades.

“It is very important that parents compare AM and PM routes as the routes are not the same. The bus taking a student to school may not be the same bus taking them home,” McGovern said. “Parents are encouraged to provide transportation in the morning when possible as bus seats are limited. There will be more flexibility with afternoon bus routes.”

During May 2021, a form was shared for parents/guardians to fill out for their children needing transportation. If parents missed this opportunity, they can complete the form here for each student that will need transportation.

Parents who have already filled out their form do not have to repeat the task. If a student receives specialized transportation, parents don’t need to complete the form. This is handled through the Special Services Office, McGovern said.

Proposed bus routes may be found here: Bus Routes. The Board of Trustees will take action on the proposed routes at the July 21 board meeting.
