GREEN RIVER — Residents will have a chance to see the winning entries of Wyoming Public Media’s “Wyoming’s History Through Listeners’ Eyes” contest at Expedition Island Oct. 2.

A reception will take place from 6-7 p.m. at the Pavilion and will feature a presentation by Jessica Flock, who participated in the 150th anniversary trek commemorating Maj. John Wesley Powell’s 1869 expedition of the Colorado River. Her presentation will highlight the importance of the original 1869 and 1871 expeditions, comparing the two to the 2019 expedition Frock participated in.

Wyoming Public Media invited residents to take photos of the state’s scenery, people, and history. The winning photos have been on display in different communities as part of a travelling exhibit. Following the reception, the photos will be on display at the Sweetwater County Historical Museum for the rest of the month. In November, the photos will be displayed at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center, then will be sent to Laramie in December for display at the American Heritage Center.
