SWEETWATER COUNTY — Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1 crews extinguished a truck fire on Interstate 80 this morning and prevented damage to the camper the truck was pulling.
Firefighters responded to the blaze around 8:30 a.m. near milepost 112 with two trucks and seven firefighters. They were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
“The fire was quickly knocked down and firefighters did a great job of saving the fifth-wheel camper the truck was towing,” Fire District No. 1 Chief Scott Kitchner said.
Kitchner said the fire started due to a mechanical malfunction in the engine compartment. No one was injured in the fire.
