ROCK SPRINGS – Racquetball enthusiasts will converge in Rock Springs January 24-26, 2014 for the RSRBT I tournament, sponsored by the City of Rock Springs Parks and Recreation Department.
The event is for local and out of town players, said Mike Evans, Superintendent of the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center.
“Although racquetball has diminished in popularity in recent years, there are still some devoted players who enjoy friendly competition. This event is for them. Racquetball is fun, easy to learn and good exercise. Most of our players come from Wyoming; but we have had some from Utah and Colorado, too,” Evans explained.
All players will receive a souvenir t-shirt and awards will be given for 1st place, 2nd place and consolation. Evans said USA Racquetball (USAR) rules will apply, with best two games out of three. Tournament format is consolation with an option of a round robin determined by the number of players in a division.
Entry fee for the first event is $30 and the second event $5. In addition, there is a one-time USAR fee of $10 unless you are a current member. Players will have full use of the facility and refreshments will be served each day, Evans said.
