GREEN RIVER — The Scott’s Bottom Fire caused extensive damage in the area, destroying about 12 barns and leaving families without essential equipment and supplies.
Owners lost all items stored in the barns, including tack, saddles, blankets, bridles, hunting equipment and horse trailers. They also lost their hay supply, which was expected to last through July.
Local businesses are assisting with cleanup and rebuilding efforts. Bomgaars is offering discounts on building materials. Pacific Steel plans to help remove damaged steel. Sisecam is providing personal protective equipment and cleaning crews. Loenbro is also offering assistance.
Christina Sanders, landowner of the horse corrals, said cleanup efforts could begin within two weeks.
Residents who want to help the affected families can donate to a Trona Valley account under the name “Janet Harford” or contribute through a GoFundMe account.
