RS Planning and Zoning Commission wishes Vess Walker best on his recent retirement announcement; Amy Allen will replace Walker as new head of Public Works Department

ROCK SPRINGS – Rock Springs has seen many changes this year and they continued as Rock Springs Public Service Director Vess Walker has decided to call it a career with the city and take the next step in life. On Wednesday, the Rock Springs Planning and Zoning Commission said goodbye to Walker.

During Walker’s almost 13 year career with the city, he has been instrumental in the Rock Springs Waste Water Facility, new Young-At-Heart Senior Center, the upgrades to the Broadway Theater and the upgrades to the Bunning Transfer Building. Rock Springs City Planner Jennifer Shields said Walker will be leaving at the end of this month and thanked him for his service.

She said he has always attended the the Rock Springs Planning and Zoning Meetings and has provided leadership in many decisions moving the city of Rock Springs forward. Shields said he has been there several times with advice for her in different situations and he will be missed.

The commission applauded Walker’s service.

On Tuesday night, the Rock Springs City Council unanimously approved Rock Springs Mayor Carl Demshar’s nominee of Amy Allen to head the city’s Public Works Department effective May 1.
