ROCK SPRINGS — Ensuring mothers at Sage View Care Center know they are loved and missed has sparked the idea of hosting a Mother’s Day Parade.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, Sage View wanted to let family members, friends and residents know they are planning a special parade to celebrate the day. Due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus recommendations, the center is still not allowing any visitors and this is a way to make them feel special.

Bryanne Gutierrez, administrative and marketing coordinator for Sage View, said at 2 pm, Sunday, May 10, they will have Sage View residents out on the front lawn ready for the parade.

“A lot of them went from seeing their family all the time to nothing,” Gutierrez said. “It lets them know that people are still thinking about them.”

During this time, parade participants are encouraged to drive through the Center’s driveway, which circles around the front of the building, and wave at the residents. Gutierrez said parade participants are encouraged to decorate their cars with signs or balloons for the event.

They can even honk their horns and roll down their windows and let residents know how much they love them, she said. However, participants may not stop or exit their vehicles.

“This is kind of a way for them to see them even though they don’t get to stop,” Gutierrez said.

Even though visits are still not allowed, residents can still receive cards and gifts from family members. Gutierrez said homemade goods are not allowed because any gift received has to be wiped down with bleach.
