Scholar’s Presentation Focuses on Wyoming Red Desert

SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Sweetwater County Library System will sponsor two free presentations by Erik Molvar. The first is at 6:30 p.m. June 20 at the Sweetwater County Library and the second is at 6:30 p.m. June 22 at Rock Springs Library.  

Molvar explores the rich and varied conservation history of one of Wyoming’s most spectacular and enigmatic landscapes in his presentation “Wyoming’s Red Desert: A Century of Conservation History.”

Molvar’s presentation will also take those in attendance on a virtual tour of some of the Red Desert’s most remote and secret corners. The audience sill come away with a clear understanding of the landscape and wildlife that are found in the Red Desert and the long history of the conservation efforts by Wyoming people of widely varied backgrounds.

Molvar is a professional photographer and wildlife biologist. He earned his BS in Wildlife Biology with a minor in Native American Studies from the University of Montana in 1985 and an MS in Wildlife Management from the University of Alaska in 1992.

“Wyoming’s Red Desert: A Century of Conservation History” is presented by the Wyoming Humanities Council as part of its ThinkWY Road Scholars Tours program.

The Wyoming Humanities Council provides public humanities-based programs in partnership with local organizations and is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities with additional support from private donors and the Wyoming Legislature.
