SCSD No. 1 Board Considers Head Start Hires, Congratulates Teacher of the Year

ROCK SPRINGS — Sweetwater County School District No. 1’s trustees will consider a couple of hiring requests centered on Head Start and congratulate a teacher for being named the district’s Teacher of the Year.

The school board will consider approving Amanda Pierantoni as the Head Start Executive Director and Teal Romango-Seiloff as the Head Start Director. According to the board’s agenda, the position was approved by the Head Start Policy Council Sept. 1.

The board will also congratulate Caroline Smalstig, an eighth-grade U.S. history teacher at Rock Springs Junior High, for being named the district’s 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year. According to board documents, Smalstig has spent seven years in education and has become known for making history come alive. Her work includes developing statewide curriculum for the documentary “Dear Sirs,” as well as participation in the Wyoming Youth Resiliency Project.

The board also has an executive session planned for personnel and legal matters scheduled near the end of the meeting.
