GREEN RIVER — Superintendent Craig Barringer will be making a recommendation to the Sweetwater County School District (SCSD) No. 2 School Board Monday, October 4, at a Special Board meeting to make changes to the District’s Smart Start Plan.
“These changes will hopefully address the high numbers of students who have been getting quarantined through contact tracing. The change does not mandate masks, but does help students or staff to not get quarantined if they are wearing masks when another individual has tested positive for COVID-19,” Barringer said in a press release.
The section of the Smart Start Plan that will be changed is below:
Will my child/children be required to wear face coverings?
“Face coverings will be optional recommended.”
The following will be added:
“Through contact tracing if the student or staff member is wearing a face covering at school when another student or staff have tested positive for COVID-19 he or she will not be quarantined, unless he or she is displaying symptoms.”
For students and staff who are exposed to COVID-19, but are vaccinated, were wearing a mask, or were socially distanced, the following diagram shows the quarantine procedures at SCSD No. 2:
