Severe weather leaves some Rock Springs residents without power

ROCK SPRINGS – As the weather rolled in last night and early this morning, the power rolled out in many Rock Springs locations.

Some bar patrons, convenience store workers and drivers on Dewar Drive were all left in the dark at approximately 1 a.m. This outage was restored around 4 a.m. but it was not the only one.

Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Margaret Oler said at approximately 3:18 a.m. 925 customers, located out by the Sweetwater County Detention Center, lost power.

Oler said workers patrolled the line and found there had been a pole fire in the area. Most of the customers were restored by 6 a.m. but crews are still working on the issue as they replace the pole. Oler said they hope to have everything back to normal by 3 p.m. today.

There were scattered outages throughout Rock Springs. Oler said they have not received all the numbers on several of these but said all were weather-related outages.
