Special Weather Statement Issued for Sweetwater County

SWEETWATER COUNTY — The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) Riverton office has issued a special weather statement for Sweetwater County until 5 am Friday, December 18.

According to the special weather statement, snow is on its way and will start falling this afternoon and continue into the night. Accumulations are anticipated to be 1-3 inches.

Sweetwater County and Southern Lincoln County, including the cities of Green River, Rock Springs, Wamsutter, Kemmerer, and Cokeville were named in the special weather statement.

Due to the snow, roads in these areas may be slick and covered with snow at times. Visibility may also be reduced at times to under a quarter of a mile. This includes Interstate 80 and Highway 30. The snow is anticipated to linger over eastern parts of Sweetwater County until 5 am Friday, December 18.
