SWEETWATER COUNTY — The National Weather Service (NWS) Riverton Office has issued a Special Weather Statement for Sweetwater and southern Lincoln counties for snow and gusting winds.
According to the NWS, today, Sweetwater County residents can expect show showers with possible accumulations of 1-2 inches. West winds could gust as high as 50 to 55 mph possible, especially in eastern Sweetwater County.
“Motorists are urged to watch for rapid changes in visibility as well as slick and snow covered roads. Drivers of high profile vehicles should watch for strong crosswinds,” according to the statement.
Interstate 80 is still feeling the impacts from the prior snow storm that came through earlier this week. As of 8:30 am February 5, I-80 eastbound from Evanston to Green River, I80 eastbound from Rock Springs to Rawlins, and I80 westbound from Cheyenne to Laramie are all closed due to a rolling closure. I-80 between Elk Mountain and Laramie is closed both directions due to winter conditions. As of 8:30 am this morning estimated opening time is 10-12 hours.
WYDOT stated in a Facebook post it is having problems with its automated 511 Notify and the Wyoming Travel Authorization Program and that it would be suspending that service until the issue can be resolved.
