Stephen’s impact on the state of Wyoming and the city of Rock Springs can only attempted to be measured in the miles it took to fulfill the contributions and commitments he made. La Salle University in PA to RS is 29 hours (1955.10 miles), summarized by Google as “head west on I-80.”
What we could not see at that time was felt in his presence while here. A passion so intense that he was willing to risk all he knew for those who never knew him. This selflessness is something this community and those close to him will never forget and always remember. If only inspiration was measured in miles would we then be able to comprehend the contributions he made for those around him. The athletes he coached and the students he counseled will carry on with his memory as they move through their life leaning on the guidance and leadership he provided in their most impressionable times.
Stephen’s lists of favorites are interchangeable depending on the season. In the summer, you would find him camping, riding bikes or playing golf. During the fall, winter and spring, he would be coaching hockey and soccer.
When he wasn’t dedicating his time to others, he would be watching the Sharks with a Yuengling in hand, hanging out with friends and family, and his favorite pastime, howling with his dogs. Every man has a best friend and there was none more enamored with him than Denny, who will live out his days in peace having known that companionship in life.
Stephen your existence was cherished and your memories are everlasting. We thank you for all you did and all that you were, rest in peace for your life will always be celebrated.
