Sweetwater #1 announces 2013 Graduation Rate

ROCK SPRINGS — Sweetwater County School District #1 is continuing its focus on student graduation rates. Final calculations have been completed for the 2012-2013 graduates and the District’s overall graduation rate was 75.56%, down from the 78.19% posted in 2012. The 2012-2013 Wyoming state graduation rate was 77.6%. Rock Springs High School posted a graduation rate of 78.21%. Farson-Eden High School posted a graduation rate of 90.91% with Independence High School coming in at 45.45%.

The District acknowledges that the last years graduation rates fall below expectations and looks to the 2014 graduation for improvement. It is the goal of the District to ensure every student graduates and has every opportunity to succeed in their post high school years. The District has implemented academic, attendance and truancy programs over the last few years to increase the graduation rate. Prior to the 2010 graduating class, the District’s overall graduation rate ranged between 68% and 71%. Sweetwater #1 has been able to raise the graduation rate above 74% each of the last four years.

The District will continue its focus on student performance and successful graduation. Graduation from high school is very important and will remain a top priority for Sweetwater County School District #1.
