SWEETWATER COUNTY — An alert reader caught a credit card scam attempt that came through a text message. According to the reader, the text asks you to call a phone number that is represented as the credit card company, in this case a 908 area code, then the caller is asked to provide card security numbers, birthdays and other info.

After calling her credit card company she learned that they will never send a text. Don’t answer any texts you receive that purport to be a credit card company.
