ROCK SPRINGS – There have been zombies, some very patriotic residents and even contestants from the Biggest Loser, but the sad news is there are only two Family Fun Runs left this summer.
On Aug. 4, the Family Fun Run will move to Pilot Butte Middle School. This run’s theme is a color run. The run gets started at 6 p.m. and usually lasts about an hour. Registration for the run takes place right before the run. The Family Fun Run is part of the Rock Springs Civic Center Programs.
Whether you’re a beginner or competitive runner, please join us for a fun, low-key run/walk that’s safe and social. Â The run is typically no more than 50 minutes, although 50 is not a magic number.
The event planners try to have runs go “out and back” so that everyone can start and finish together and run at their own pace with others of similar ability. Â New runners may only want to run a mile or two; experienced athletes might do a tempo run. Â This is geared towards families and people of all ages. Â Walking is also encouraged! Â There is no fee to participate.
An adult must be present for children 12 and under.
These runs have been a great addition to events this summer and have been very popular. The last couple of runs have attracted around 200 participants.
The final run of the summer will take place Aug. 18 at the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Central Administration Building. The theme for the run is a glow stick run.
