GREEN RIVER — The Western Wyoming College women’s soccer team is set to play its first home match of the season Wednesday when the Mustangs host Indian Hills Community College at 3 p.m. in Green River.

The matchup gives Western its first opportunity of the season to play in front of a home crowd as the Mustangs begin a busy September schedule.

After Wednesday’s match, Western will return home for four consecutive Region 9 games at Rock Springs Junior High School. The Mustangs will host Casper College at 11 a.m. Sept. 11, followed by Gillette College at 11 a.m. Sept. 12. Western will then face Northeastern Junior College at 11 a.m. Sept. 18 and Lamar Community College at 11 a.m. Sept. 19.

The Mustangs will spend the final week of September on the road, with a Region 9 matchup against Trinidad State College scheduled for Sept. 25 in Trinidad, Colorado, followed by a Sept. 26 game against Otero College in La Junta, Colorado.

Western will open October with two more road games, facing St. Mary’s College in Omaha, Nebraska, on Oct. 2 and Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Oct. 3.

The Mustangs will then close out their regular-season home schedule with another pair of Region 9 games at Rock Springs Junior High School. Western will host Laramie County Community College at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 and Western Nebraska Community College at 11 a.m. Oct. 10.

The regular season will conclude with two more Region 9 road games. Western is scheduled to face Central Wyoming College in Riverton on Oct. 16 before traveling to Powell to take on Northwest College on Oct. 17. Both game times are listed as to be determined.

The September schedule also includes a stretch of games in Arizona this weekend, with Western scheduled to face Eastern Arizona College on Sept. 4, Yavapai Community College on Sept. 5 and Arizona Western College on Sept. 6.

The regular season leads into the Region 9 postseason in October, giving the Mustangs an opportunity to continue their season beyond the regular-season finale.
