GREEN RIVER – It was all Green River on Thursday as they earned wins on both the boys and girls side.
The Green River squads recently beat Rock Springs but on Thursday, the stakes were raised a little as it would be a conference battle. Like the earlier matchup, Green River started quick and ended strong.
On the ladies side, Green River has not lost since the opening weekend of play. On the other side, the Lady Tigers have been steadily improving. In the first meeting, Green River won 4-1. They would match it Thursday afternoon.
Green River’s Anna Ujvary has been tearing through the competition and remained perfect with a win over Keeri Klein, 6-1 and 6-2. Another key to the Lady Wolves success has been doubles play and all three doubles teams were again on the winning side.
Ashlyn Edwards and Kaitlyn Sharp would win from the No. 2 doubles position while Audrie Harrison and Kelby Pope would give Green River a win from the No. 3 Doubles spot. Both teams took wins in straight sets.
The No. 1 doubles match also went to Green River but it would be a tight match throughout. Lady Tigers Sash Bently and Alicia Stevens would push the Green River team of Alex Palmer and Isabel Leininger to a tiebreaker in the first set. It would be Palmer and Leininger who would get the win. In the second set, Palmer and Leininger would force a late break to take a 7-5 win.
The only match Rock Springs would win in the first meeting was in No. 2 singles and it would be that way again. Lady Tiger Maggie Justinak would take a tight first set 7-5 but Green River’s Haylen Cordova would battle back for a 6-4 win in the second. The final set would also be decided by a break with Justinak taking the win, 6-4.

Tigers vs. Wolves
On the boy’s side it would be all Green River. In the first matchup, Green River would win four of the five matches. On Thursday, the Wolves would take all five.
Green River did make a small change on Thursday. Brendan Bloomquist, who has been playing in the No. 2 singles spot, was moved to the No. 2 doubles team. Bloomquist was teamed with Cody Lee while Andrew Halverson was moved to singles. The moved paid off in both cases.
Bloomquist and Lee won in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-2. In singles, Halverson would have to face Kelby Kramer who had the only win for Rock Springs in the first meeting. Kramer rolled in the first set, 6-2, but Halverson would settle down and go to work. He would take the next set 6-4 and break late in the third to win his match, 7-5.
Patrick Marchal and Gregory Marchal remained perfect on the year with a straight-sets win while Jacob Lock only lost one game as he also cruised in straight sets.
The No. 3 doubles match would be the closest on the boy’s side. Green River’s Karsyn Beutel and Josh Graves jumped out to a 6-4 win in the first but Tigers Hunter Davidson and Deklyn Searle would respond. Rock Springs would take set two, 6-4, and carry momentum into the third. The deciding set would go to a tiebreaker with Beutel and Graves holding on for the win.
Both teams are at home again as Rawlins comes to town. Rawlins will play in both Rock Springs and Green River on Friday.
