Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray Recognizes Deputy Secretary of State Karen Wheeler for 30 Years of Service

CHEYENNE, WY – Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray recently recognized Deputy Secretary of State Karen Wheeler for her 30 years of service.

Wheeler has worked in the Secretary of State’s office for 30 years and served during the tenures of six Secretaries of State.

Prior to her appointment as Deputy Secretary of State in April, Wheeler headed the office’s Compliance Division which investigates investment fraud and oversees regulation and enforcement of brokerage firms, stockbrokers, and registered agents.

“Karen’s extensive experience, insight, and energy over her impressive 30-year career have been invaluable to this office. As the Compliance Division Director, Karen spearheaded this office’s top priority; initiatives to fight against fraudulent and harmful business practices. Karen doesn’t ever seek out the spotlight, but she deserves recognition for her 30 years of exemplary service under six Secretaries of State.” – Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray.

Honored by the recognition, Wheeler said she is looking forward to the future.

“Since I was first hired by Secretary of State Thyra Thompson, I have always been proud of all that we accomplish in this office together. I am honored by this recognition, but working alongside bright and capable people for 30 years in the State Capitol is the true honor. Today, I am not thinking of the past; instead I am looking forward to years of future accomplishments.”

The vacated position of Compliance Division Director was filled by in June by Kelly Janes. Janes had worked in the Compliance Division, alongside Karen Wheeler, for 12 years prior to her elevation to the director’s position.
