Young Posts Second Best at Star Valley Invite

AFTON — The 2021 fall sports season began this week for a few high school sports teams including the Rock Springs High School (RSHS) golf team.

On Monday and Tuesday, the Tigers competed alongside seven other schools in this year’s Star Valley Invite at the Star Valley View Golf Course.

Rock Springs’ Sam Young posted the second best score of the invite with a 153, hitting a 73 on day one and an 80 on day two. Young finished five strokes outside of first place Sam Dolezal from Evanston.

The rest of the boys team saw strong performances from AJ Fletcher who hit a 168, Peyton Jenkins who hit a 174, and Hunter Faigl who finished with a 180. The boys team finished with a combined score of 675, which secured a third-place finish.

The Lady Tigers also competed against four other teams, taking fourth place as a team with a score of 578. Hanmi Park swung her way towards the top of the girls division, finishing third with a score of 173.
