GREEN RIVER — The Green River High School Art Department once again participated in the Wyoming State Art Symposium this year in Casper. As a school, they displayed 292 pieces of art ranging from drawings, paintings, computer graphic work, photographs, mixed media, sculptures, and pottery.

Green River High School Students’ work was well appreciated, netting 81 ribbons. Over 60 students submitted work from Green River High School. This year there were roughly 4,500 pieces of artwork submitted by a combination of each of the high schools in the state on display at the Casper Events Center.

Only one-quarter of the work displayed receives ribbons, so the students took great pride in receiving this recognition from the judges. Two students received distinguished honors by having their work selected to be displayed in Capital Building in Cheyenne over the summer.

Anna Harris was one of only 20 artists who had two-dimensional work selected for this honor.

Hayley Henderson was one of only 16 artists to have a three-dimensional piece selected to be displayed in Cheyenne.  

Each year the level of talent and dedication our students show is phenomenal. They will have their work on display in the Green River High School gym Monday, May 2nd through Wednesday, May 4th.

The public is welcome to view the work, and there is no cost for admission. Below is a list of students and the number of ribbons each received.  Mr. Shane Steiss, Ms. Denise Mosley, and Mrs. Sonja Higgins are all very proud to be art teachers at GRHS and excited to get to work with such skilled young people on a daily basis.
