CASPER – Several strong finishes were posted by regional high schools in the Thursday afternoon session of the 2016 Wyoming Outdoor Track and Field State Championships.
The Farson-Eden Pronghorns are in second after day one with 24 points. Lingle-Ft. Laramie is leading with 29. Upton is third with 22, Little Snake River is fourth with 20 and Cokeville is fifth with 18. The Lady Pronghorns sit in sixth place after day one with 15 points. Cokeville leads with 39 followed by Kaycee at 28 points.
On the boy’s side in 2A Pine Bluffs in on top with 25 points. Kemmerer is second with 22 followed by Thermopolis with 18. Big Piney is in eighth and Lyman is in 12th. Its the Lady Eagles of Lyman leading on the lady’s side with 37 points. Thermopolis is second with 28 while Big Piney is in the hunt in third with 21.5 points. Kemmerer sits in the 12th position.
In 3A, the Star Valley Braves are on top with 30 points. Cody is in second with 26 points followed by Buffalo with 18. Pinedale is in 12th followed by Mountain View in 13th. The Lady Broncs of Jackson are leading on the girl’s side with 31 points. Cody and Buffalo are tied for second with 19 points. Mountain View sits in ninth followed by Pinedale in 14th.
The Rock Springs Tigers sit in seventh after the first day of the state championships. Kelly Walsh is leading with 29 points followed by Cheyenne Central in second with 25. Laramie is in third. The Wolves are in 11th. The Lady Wolves currently sit in sixth on the girl’s side. Natrona leads the way with 40 points followed by Cheyenne East with 25. The Lady Tigers of Rock Springs are currently in ninth.

Highlights
Rock Springs
Rock Springs Lady Tiger Bobbi Parker qualified in the top spot in the 200 finals with a time of 24.96. Lady Tiger Lyndzie Kroupa will run for a 100-meter hurdle title qualifying in the third position on Thursday.
The Lady Tiger 4×800 team of Bailee Radakovich, Sheridan Klingensmith, Jenae Rameriz and Isabelle Shields finished in the fifth position.
The Tiger 4×800 team of  Parker Jones, Joe Depoyster, Clay Goich and Preston Portillo  posted a time of 8:08.25 for a fourth-place finish.
Farson-Eden
Farson-Eden’s Sierra Brunkhard won the 1A Long Jump state championship with a jump of 16-01.00. Cokeville’s Emily Sparks finished second with a distance of 16-00.75. She also qualified for the 200-meter finals.
Both Maizee Thoren and Kenzi Reed qualified for the 100-meter hurdle finals. Thoren finished third while Reed crossed in fifth.
The 4×800 Pronghorn team of Braxton Applequist, Michael Gribowskas, Lain Mitchelson and Carter Malec just missed a title. They finished second with a time of 8:58.15 right behind Hanna Elk Mountain who posted a time of 8:57.48.
Green River
Green River’s Emily White finished in the third spot in the 4A shot put finals with a throw of 38-06.50. Cosette Stellern of East to the title with a throw of 41-06.75. The Wolves 4×800 team of Eric Clingenpeel, Brayden Kovick, Braden Reichl and Cole White finished eighth.
Lyman
Lady Eagle Peyton Limoges won the 2A Pole Vault state title with a height of 9-06.00. She also qualified for the 100-meter hurdle finals finishing in sixth on Thursday. Â Â Â
Big Piney
Big Piney’s Grace Tanner and Rachel Forrester qualify for the 200 meter finals. Tanner posted the second-best time. Chancy Hunt qualified on the boy’s side in the sixth spot.
Tanner also qualified for the finals in the 100 hurdles after posting a second-place finish with a time of 16.34.
The Big Piney 4×800 team of Mckenzi Davidson, Melissa Merritt, Carmen Garcia and Zoey Elliot just missed a championship. They finished second with a time of 10:32.25. Thermopolis took top honors with a time of 10:15.26.

Pinedale
Pinedale’s Courtney Campbell qualified for the 200-meter finals with a sixth-place qualifying time.
Mountain View
Mountain View’s Marley Newton crossed the line in the 100-meter hurdles in second with a time of 16.16 qualifying for the finals. The team 4×800 team of Emilee Benedict, Charity Harmon, Haylee Hereford and Hannah Behunin posted a time of 10:17.29 to finish with the bronze medal. Jackson took the title with a 9:54.61.
Kemmerer
The Kemmerer 4×800 team of Brooklynn Hagler, Michelle Nielsen, Joni Stetzenbach and Rexanna Kelly finished fourth. The Ranger 4×800 team of Taylor Chapin, Louis Failoni, Noah Johnson and Lukas Mathews took home the silver with a time of 8:38.93. Wyoming Indian took the title with a 8:34.40.
