ROCK SPRINGS – The creation of the foundation board at the Sweetwater Events Complex was completed as the Fair Board unanimously filled three open spots.
Recently, the Events Complex announced they received its 501(c)3 status making it a tax-exempt nonprofit organization. This allows the complex to receive donations and they recently accepted a freezer and a walk-in cooler from Greg Bailey and the local McDonald’s.
A board was created to oversee donations made to the complex. The top positions of the Sweetwater County Fair Board will comprise half of the seats. They include Chairman Kent McCann and Vice Chairman Faith Harris.
On Tuesday night, the three open spots were unanimously approved by the Fair Board. They include Taylor Jones, Craig Nelson and past Events Complex Chairman Paul Zancanella.
Complex Director Larry Lloyd said along with bringing a lot of education and experience to the foundation board, they also have strong ties and are active in the community.
State Board
At the February meeting, Lloyd explained to the board there was an opening on the state fair board and expressed his intention to submit McCann’s name for the position.
On Tuesday, Lloyd said they are still waiting for Governor Matt Mead’s decision. Both McCann and fellow board member Janet Hartford’s names have been submitted for the opening.
