SWEETWATER COUNTY — Fifth-ranked Cheyenne East earned a four-set victory over Rock Springs on Friday, while top-ranked Kelly Walsh swept No. 3 Green River in a pair of Class 4A matchups.
Cheyenne East defeated Rock Springs 25-19, 25-20, 12-25, 25-21. The Lady Thunderbirds responded after dropping the third set to close out the match in four sets. Kelly Walsh, meanwhile, took control from the opening set against Green River, winning 25-13, 25-19, 25-14 to hand the Wolves a three-set loss.
In Class 1A, No. 5 Dubois defeated Farson-Eden in four sets, 25-22, 24-26, 25-9, 25-9. Farson-Eden evened the match by taking the second set before Dubois pulled away in the final two sets.
Friday’s results included three matches involving ranked teams, with No. 5 Cheyenne East and No. 1 Kelly Walsh earning Class 4A victories and No. 5 Dubois winning in Class 1A.
