CHEYENNE – A 29-year-old Rock Springs man was sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison on meth distribution charges. The case is part of an ongoing state task force focusing on the more serious trafficking crimes.
Casey Piburn, 29, of Rock Springs, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on June 30, for conspiracy to distribute no less than 350 grams of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. Piburn was arrested in Rock Springs.
He received 78 months imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $300 fine and a $200 special assessment.
This case results from an ongoing Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) joint investigation conducted by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The principal mission of the OCDETF program is to identify, disrupt and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and money laundering organizations, and those primarily responsible for the nation’s illegal drug supply.
