A Series of Small Earthquakes Hit Northwest of Green River on Friday

GREEN RIVER– According to United States Geological Survey (USGS), a series of small earthquakes hit northwest of Green River Friday afternoon.

Six earthquakes hit within 30 minutes of each other, the first one hitting at 12:51 pm, and the sixth one hitting at 1:19 pm. All of this information comes from the USGS website.

Earthquake Details

The first earthquake occurred at 12:51 pm, about 18.6 miles northwest of Green River. It had a 1.6 magnitude, and a depth of -1.5 km (0.9 miles).

The second earthquake occurred at 12:53 pm, about 18 miles northwest of Green River. It had a 3.0 magnitude, and a depth of -3.3 km (2.05 miles).

The third earthquake occurred at 12:59 pm, about 19.2 miles northwest of Green River. It had a 2.6 magnitude, and a depth of -1.5 km (0.9 miles).

The fourth earthquake occurred at 1 pm, about 18 miles northwest of Green River. It had a 2.9 magnitude, and a depth of -3.1 km (1.9 miles).

The fifth earthquake occurred at 1:08 pm, about 18.6 miles northwest of Green River. It had a 2.8 magnitude, and a depth of -3.1 (1.9 miles).

The sixth earthquake occurred at 1:19 pm, about 19.2 miles northwest of Green River. It had a 2.0 magnitude, and a depth of -0.2 km (0.1 miles).
