ROCK SPRINGS — A light-hearted and enthusiastic crowd of friends, family, faculty and staff celebrated the Black Butte High School Class of 2022 in a commencement ceremony last evening at the Western Wyoming Community College auditorium.
Twenty three students bid farewell to their high school years with a ceremony that featured a slide show of the kids today and when they were younger. Principal Bryant Blake spoke fondly about a class of student that worked hard, enjoyed each others companionship and support, and even organized the school’s first prom.
Senior Quincy Stewart delivered the commencement address stating that her choice to attend BBHS was one of the best of her life, and thanked her teachers for challenging her throughout her high school years. Principal Blake then awarded the Most Improved Senior honor to Anna Myers, and Stewart received the Outstanding Academic Achievement award for having the highest grade point average in her class.
Diplomas were presented by BBHS Art Teacher Shari Kumer who shared a brief anecdote on each student about their plans for the future and their proudest moments during their years at the school.
Following the ceremony the student body signed a card and gave retiring custodian Barbara Ryan a bouquet of flowers as a thank you for all of her support and encouragement over the years.
SweetwaterNOW would like to congratulate all of the graduates from Black Butte High School and we wish you the best of luck for a bright and successful future.
