SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Castle Rock Hospital District (CRHD) Board will be discussing EMS services in Green River with the Sweetwater County Commissioners Tuesday morning.

On January 19, 2021, at the Sweetwater County Courthouse, the hospital district and the Commissioners will discuss the recent cancellation of ambulance contracts.

On December 15, 2020, the Sweetwater County Commissioners announced they will terminate service contracts and all associated funding with those contracts with Sweetwater Medics and Castle Rock Ambulance Service, effective March 31, 2021.

The Commissioners cited economic hardships and continued failure to find solutions for ambulance service funding as the reasons to terminate the contracts.

Bailee Dockter, CRHD CEO, said in her meeting request that while she has had opportunities to speak to Commissioners individually about the cancellation of the EMS contract, the CRHD Board has not. During Tuesday’s meeting, the board will have the opportunity to discuss the cancellation and possible plans for providing EMS services in the future.

On January 13, 2021, the Commissioners met with the representatives from the Rock Springs, Green River, Wamsutter, Superior, Granger and Bairoil city councils in a joint special meeting, and the governments began forming a committee to come up with ideas to find a permanent funding solution to keep ambulance services running in Sweetwater County.

The meeting will be held at the County Courthouse located at 80 W Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, Wyoming. For the convenience of the public, efficiency, and COVID‐19 Coronavirus restrictions, the meeting will be held using video conferencing technology.

The County Courthouse will have limited seating to practice social distancing and be consistent with state guidelines. The public is invited to watch the meeting on the Sweetwater County YouTube channel.

The public can express any concerns during the county resident concerns portion of the meeting at about 8:50 am by calling 307-872-3891, or by sending comments ahead of time via email to: publiccomments@sweet.wy.us.

Tuesday’s meeting will start out with two planning and zoning public hearings.

The first public hearing will be for Ronald Roy, who is seeking a zone map amendment from Single Family Residential (R-2/SF) to Rural Residential (RR) in accordance with amendment procedures found in Section 20 of the 2015 Zoning Resolution; and, this zoning map amendment will be approved for approximately 40 acres of land owned by Ronald K and Dorothy R Roy.

The purpose of this amendment is to establish an area where the applicant could construct a greenhouse that would exceed the square footage of the existing home.

The second public hearing is for LR Communications representatives who are seeking a Conditional Use Permit for a telecommunication tower. Within the new lease area, LR Communications is proposing a new Telecom Facility (Mansface) containing a 8’x18’ control building, solar panel array and new communications tower.
