Chris Sutton Announces Candidacy for Sweetwater County Sheriff

Chris Sutton has served with the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department since 2016.

SWEETWATER COUNTY — Current Sweetwater County Sheriff Deputy and Green River resident Chris Sutton has announced his intention to run for Sheriff in the 2022 election.

Sutton has served the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office since 2016. He also served as an officer with the Rock Springs Police Department in 2014. During his time as a peace officer, he was involved in many disciplines that served the public, such as Search and Rescue and the Flaming Gorge Enforcement Patrol.

He also served as a Field Training Officer and recently as a Detective. Sutton is a combat veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Subsequently, he continued to enhance his leadership skills as a Senior Leader in the private sector for two decades.

In this capacity he managed large diverse technical teams in the field. During that time, he was an integral part in mentoring new team members and providing career guidance. Additionally, he was responsible for development and oversight of large operational budgets and implementation of those resources across departments.

Chris is a dedicated husband and father to four children and one grandchild. He has always been engaged with the community personally and professionally. His commitment to the community and its safety is his top priority.
