ROCK SPRINGS — Western Wyoming College will host a public suicide prevention event Wednesday, encouraging people to walk with the light.
The Walk with the Lights event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the college’s Pendulum, near the student bookstore. Sarah Grimm, a counselor at the college, said the event will start with people making paper lanterns and follows with a walk to the college’s pool. Once at the pool, the lit lanterns will be floated in the pool. Grimm said residents wanting to use their own lanterns can do so as long as they’re not electronically lit.
Grimm said the event promotes suicide prevention while also serving as a memorial. While the event is being hosted by the college, Grimm said everyone is welcome to attend.
