Construction of New Sunset Drive McDonalds Moves Forward

ROCK SPRINGS – The new Sunset Drive McDonalds restaurant continues to move forward as the city of Rock Springs has approved the plans for the new building.

At the Rock Springs Planning and Zoning Commission this past week, a minor site plan for the construction of the new building was presented. Due to the scope and size of the project it falls under the minor site plan category. Minor site plans are approved at staff level and are only reported to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The demolition of the current building on the site is underway. The demolition process started the beginning of September and usually takes around two weeks to complete.

Once demolition is finished, crews will begin to  build the new restaurant. Local McDonalds owner Greg Bailey said the entire process – demolition and construction – takes approximately 120 days. The construction timeline is highly dependent on the weather. Construction could also be impacted by holidays as the project is scheduled to take place during  both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
