GREEN RIVER — Sweetwater County Treasurer Robb Slaughter had a surprise this week when local trona mine representatives presented him with a trona clock for a retirement gift.

During the Sweetwater County Commission meeting on June 1, Slaughter announced his resignation and retirement after 33 years of serving Sweetwater County as treasurer.

Upon hearing about Slaughter’s retirement, Craig Rood of Ciner and Fred von Ahrens of Genesis Alkali, visited Slaughter to give him a trona clock. 

The clock was way for the mines to thank Slaughter for his years of support of the Trona Industry. The clock was presented on behalf of Ciner, Genesis, Solvay and Tata.
