Crews Battling Soda Lake Fire Near South Cottonwood Creek Today

PINEDALE — A fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in Sublette County has now reached about 80 acres, according to the U.S. Forest Service – Bridger-Teton National Forest Facebook page.

The Soda Lake Fire is burning about three miles west of the Bridger-Teton Forest boundary near South Cottonwood Creek on the Big Piney District.

Fire crews are pursuing a full-suppression strategy. The initial attack is being supported by Sublette County Unified Fire, according to the Facebook post.

Multiple values are at risk on nearby Bureau of Land Management, state, and private land including gas wells.

The USFS says fire aviation and ground crews need space to operate safely. The Forest Service is asking that people avoid the area between the forest boundary and North Piney Creek Bridge on Forest Service Road 10046.
